Program

At Tumbling Teddy’s Cottage we value each and every child’s individuality. Every child is unique and has their own, thoughts, ideas and opinions that we value and incorporate into our daily curriculum.

The daily curriculum at Tumbling Teddy’s Cottage is based on The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This is the National Educational Framework that guides educators in the quality principles and practices for learning in our environment when working with children.

Our daily curriculum identifies what the children have done throughout each day, what they have excelled at, what is being followed up in the following days and the learning outcomes the children have accomplished during these experiences.

The five (5) key learning outcomes of EYLF are:

1. Children have a strong sense of identity.
2: Children are connected and contribute to their world.
3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
4: Children are confident and involved learners.
5: Children are effective communicators.

The Educators at Tumbling Teddy’s Cottage work co-operatively to provide an interesting and challenging early learning program that caters to each area of your child’s development.

The program will include:-

-A wide variety of experiences to stimulate language and intellectual development and a rich background of concepts as a preparation for further learning.

-An environment conducive to fostering feelings of security, confidence, self-esteem and healthy emotional development.

-Opportunities for contacts with other children and adults which will encourage satisfying relationships.

-A wide variety of equipment and materials to assist in large and small muscle development, co-ordination, balance and acquisition of many other skills.

Both Indoor and Outdoor play is incorporated onto the daily curriculum as educators continue to follow up and extend on children’s interests.

The program consists of three basis areas:

1.Indoor Experiences ( art/craft/construction/manipulation)
2.Outdoor Experiences (climbing/balancing/running)
3.Group Experiences (music/movement/language/drama)

Each child’s achievements, works of art, and learning outcomes are also documented in an individual “Portfolio” presented to each child at the end of each year.

At Tumbling Teddy’s Cottage we value and respect each and every family’s ideas, opinions and cultural background.

Through positive and effective communication we work in partnership with families and the community to foster and develop each child’s understanding of the world they live in thereby enriching their lives and creating a sense of Being, Belonging and Becoming.

The program also includes breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, lunch time and rest time. We feel that each area of the program is important and we endeavour to suit each experience to the individual needs and interests of the children. The time of the day and length of these activities will vary from term to term and are very flexible. The order however rarely alters; this gives the children the security of knowing what will happen next in their day.

A detailed program policy has been developed and can be found in the centres policy folder (available upon request). Daily programs are also on display in each room. Please feel free to ask the educators in your child’s group or the Nominated Supervisor if you have any questions about the program or your child’s development.
